Devlin scaup 18 from aluminum

You measure across the transom at 20 inches up ....but there are no rules on outboard size unless I go to sell it when I’m finished a 70 hp would be the correct size but I already bought a 90 so that’s what it’s getting unless it does not handle properly ... this per the coast guard in Oregon

Good morning, Jesse~

Wonderful work - you will have one sweet vessel - and pretty soon,it looks like!

Question - from one who knows nothing about aluminum or welding. It looks like you first tack the joints together - for example, every few inches along each chine. I presume you later run a full bead of weld along the entire length.

So, how to you hold the pieces against each other while you are tacking? Clamps? A helper? just your own hands?

All the best,

SJS

Jesse,

Nice looking weld, not your first rodeo. [smile] You looking for someone to document the maiden run ???????????? [whistle]
