There were thousands of swans at the lake this week. They made the geese look very small. This picture is with my basic camera that doesn't have a telephoto lens. They were pretty close. I really need a better camera.

Hey Andy, I know what you mean about a better camera - but keep taking pics...
I was visiting in Coeur D'Alene a couple of weeks ago and was reading the morning paper. The big photo on the front page was a flock of swans taking off. Great picture. But the photo's caption said they were snow geese, and gave some facts about snow geese!! Holy cow, how could you ever mistake a swan for anything else? I had to leave some fan mail for the editor on that one....
Swans are amazing birds, fun to watch land and take off, and not too spooky either.
