In my free time ( read epoxy waiting to dry on layout boat) I had some leftover pink foam from the clubhouse insulation project that i turned into these swans. I resurrected a swan pattern from 1992 and with a few mods i created a pair of confidence birds for this season. 4 layers of 2 inch foam and tupelo two piece heads . Bodies were roughed out with standard rasps and a 36 grit sanding belt cut in half and used shoeshine fashion. The head grain went east west and the neck north south on the sentinel and the tester they were both going the same direction. I dowelled both and glued together with a band of 6 oz glass tape on the joint for reinforcement.
On the bottom i recessed small blocked of wood to hold the heads on and to screw the keel on to in the finishing phase. Heads were glued and lag bolted from the bottom.
Burlapped using tile mastic and hung in the shop attic to cure before painting.
