I hadn't closed the iPad from posting the classified when my phone rang. The voice begins with, "I think that's my old boat", and then goes on to describe the placement of the ribs, the drain plug, the folding oar locks, "with a bronze cleat just aft of the locks".
I knew this old boat had passed through a few hands and knew along the way that Dave Clark had restored it but I didn't realize how long ago.
Dave stopped by this morning, was horrified by what someone else had done in the name of repair and restoration and eventually left with the Perrine. Dave showed me an extensive photo history of this Perrine, his favorite being of he and his son, then 3, in the cockpit of the boat. Meanwhile we talked boats, the proper way to sister a rib, bringing back a boat by being true to its origins, Tuckerton, canvas dos and donts, decoys, decoy duplicating machines and a host of other duck boat topics.
Before we knew it two hours had passed by. I'm glad this old boat is going back to be treated right again.
Dave is going to keep me posted with its restoration and he advised it will be a Tuckerton next year, entered in the Restored Class.
Thanks - Paul
