How to secure this seat

I am trying to figure out the best way to secure this seat. For those familiar with a Lund Ducker, this is the repositionable bench seat. I can pick it up and move it forward or backwards. Kind of a neat feature. One thing that needs improvement is to stop it from tilting when I reach back to start the motor or whatever. When I lean against the seat back, the "bracket" tilts. Not a big problem most of the time but sometimes it is a big problem. I want to stop the tilting and am looking for the best way to do so. I have zero issues drilling into the boat. I have looked at various options and havent found on that meats my needs. These needs are:

1. Easy to put the device in/on.
2. Easy to take it out/off.
3. Looks like it belongs if possible
4. No small parts that I would for sure lose in the field (see note below regarding my recent trailer incident)
5. As the bench tilts forward and backward, can I put one device on the front on one side and one on the back on the other side or should I use 4 things?
6. Nothing sticking ojut too far as I know it would catch on something like the blind or me moving around
7. I only want to secure the bench seat when I have it placed back as far towards the stren as possible. If it could be moveable and secure anywhere, that might be a bonus.

Thanks in advance. Probably overthinking this as usual. First picture is from inside the boat, second it from outside.

Drill a hole in the seat bracket only, just below the cockpit, insert a carabiner, to prevent the seat bracket from rising.

I think I made my post more complicated than needed.

The issue I am having, is that this bracket pivots. For example, using your picture the seat would still pivot. Where your yellow dot is is towards the rear of the boat. The bracket pivots, not the whole bracket moving upwards. Let's say your yellow dot was a little higher and went through the bracket and the boat rail. When I would lean back, the carabiner would stay in place but the front of the seat bracket pivots upwards. This is what I am trying to prevent.

I do like your idea of a carabiner. I bet If i drilled a hole in the center of the seat bracket through the boat "rail", on each side, the seat bracket would never "pivot". Make sense Dave. I do like the simplicity of your suggestion. Just think the placement needs to be a little better.

Thanks

Mark

I understand the bracket pivots. If I drew the hole on the wrong end, simply move the hole to the other end. I avoided drilling thru the boat itself. The carabiner below the boat hull will engage at any location. If the hole is drilled thru both pieces, it limits adjustment to that one location.

A simple hole drilled thru seat bracket just under combing lip with a bolt ran thru and nuts on back side One front & rear of bracket. That should keep bracket from lifting off lip when you rock back . You could get fancy and put a small roller on bolt and simply drop positioning correspondingly.

Should have mentioned if I didn't, I only want the seat in this position when driving the boat, When I get to the hunting spot, I will move the seat more towards the middle of the boat.

Understood Dave. I still think the bracket would pivot upwards unless the carabiner goes through the seat bracket and the rail area. II'll have to do some noodling on this. The dor you drew is towards the back. I think moving the carabiner to the front end would be better as this is the end that always lifts. And then, as you mention, I can move that seat bracket whever else I may want to do so.

Kind of hurts a little thinking you have the right answer.

Hope all is well.
