My new boat well 1978 Lund new to me

Last Friday night all the Sanding Done all the 97 TIG welds done ready for the next STEP

I got so bored that I even HERCULINERED the pistons on my seat poles lol....

I need the hull back before I go OVERBOARD lmao

Thanks Guys, I just cant wait to get it all done chase some BASS with it and be able
to take my Dad in Missouri Fishing again. He is visualy impaired and I told him were going
to go out this summer by his house and do some slip bobber fishin for bluegills on the
lake at the state park. Dont care what we catch just will be nice to get him to
go with me again. Last time several years back due to his vision had Issues
seeing where he was casting on Bass very frustrating for him. SO change
the game plan and just go again.

Heres the Trailer now. The guys at Trailer Depot in Clinton moved the axel from
the underside of the springs to the topside to lower the TALL trailer a bit.

SLAMMED IT!

2+ inches of clearnace still inside. When we load the boat back if needed the fender
can be unbolted and moved up a lil bit.

now back to waiting

Dave with all the great work you have done you deserve to splurge on some wheels for that trailer!!!!

Dave,

Great job w/ the boat and trailer! I did an older 16' Alumacraft a while back and know what you are going thru. You are doing it right though, and will reap the rewards for years to come!

Off topic: Did you know Paul Kingyon being from Clinton? I am trying to find out if he passed away. I haven't been able to get a hold of him for a while now. Let me know.

Best Regards,

Todd

The name Paul K sounds familar have heard it but no I dont know him. Been here since 1993 only.

GOT THE NEW TIRES AND RIMS, found a great source online due to the high cost everywhere I looked
it was darn near buy 2 get one free! Set of 3 $255 shipped out the door to my home.

Sure was nice of the bird to sit on the side bunk and crap all over the fender lol....

175 80 D13 Galvanized rims. NO MORE RUSTING :)

Got a kick out of that line when you said, "No more rusting." Made me think of the desert we live in. That word, rusting, is never used out here. What a marvelous job you have done on the restoration project. You have to be mighty proud.
Al

Thanks Al not bad for a 1976 Trailer now. Wish they would get the hull painted
cause im getting impaitent with them. 5 weeks its been there so far maybe longer
I think...... Going to stop tonight and see if any more work has started on paint
if not going to just have to ask WHEN....... Cause its so bad I took the trailer
to the carwash last night, Im starting think of it as my freaking motorcycle
and treating it as such..... I wonder do they make Trailer Covers lol

Installed the Stainless Steel closed end lug nuts on the wheels and put on some new bearing buddies that
have the fill indicators in them.

Look a lil blingey need some lake grime on them lol.... But wont rust

Well they are back on my boat now and headed towards the finish.

Its in the paint room getting steel flex injected into the runners on the bottom. Upon water testing there
were a few issues that came from there so we are making sure to address as many of them as possible.
Bottom of the rig in all of its 1978 glory.

One of the guys from Phowler Boats getting messy lol injecting some steel flex in the areas they wanted to
make sure are good to go.

Overnight they applied the product to the bottom of the hull, paint is next then hydroturf and its out of there and
back to me where I can then get the motor mounted up again and get this tub on the water.

trailer is looking nice.

When you see that pic of the boat it doesn't look quite fair anymore. is that due to the welding or previously how the boat was given it's age? I realize it really won't change much when it comes to duck hunting, just wondering how much you think the welding may hav affected those areas.

The bottom was like that when we got it. Not sure what the sink is in the rar section or why.
Over the years it has had some abuse for certain and been stuck on some stuff lol. The welders
didnt cause that as they did hardly any welding to that section.

In the rest of its life it will be an open water duck rig and a bass fishing boat so it wont see the
abuse of stumps logs and running up on shores who knows where anymore.

I wonder if it was ever on a roller trailer that could of caused that.... Duno and I dont
think the fish will laugh to hard at the bottom lmao.

Dave,

I can't wait to hear how this stuff works for you. As good as I "THOUGHT" my boat looked I'm finding little pin holes everywhere caused by the salt and electrolysis. Why didn't I buy fiberglas???? When the guys says "Lets take it for a water test" you just can't find everything in a 30 minute run. Especially when the important part is always "How does the motor run!"

Take care,

Ed L.

Yup Ed feeling your pain brother.... My motor bill is $550 to get it in
great running shape and not subject to break down on the pool.

This stuff is very highly recomended they just warn against running
over logs hard hits ect... Wont have to worry about that with my
rig anymore.

Yes were in the home stretch of the paint process.
Telling me will be ready to leave by Wed next WEEK!

Base Coat going on, More color then pebble coating
then shadows ect. Cant wait to see it DONE! I had to
drop off the trailer so when its ready to go to the
interior shop at phowler its lower to the ground lol.
The tub looked so small upside down.

Cant wait to see the finished paint on monday.

Dave,

I'd take that boat just the way it is! It's looking great. You've definitely set the bar high for all future rebuilds:)

We have PAINT and Hydro Turf!!! I do like the paint will work well for the open pool here or along or near an
island. AND I dont think the bass will suspect me!
