My new boat well 1978 Lund new to me

Thanks guys it has been a fun project taking this old Tub and making it something
of my own. Still cant wait to take her out on the river and float it for the
1st time ever........ One thing that sucks about buying a boat when the
water is HARD.

Hope she comes home tomorrow. Need to get back to the marina and get the
old Evinrude picked up and talk to the graphics joint about color of numbers
and I have been working on a new unique logo for the hull too.

My 3 favorites so far...... Prolly in a lighter Tan or Gray duno till I get to see the hull in the sunshine.

Rear Stern area where the old lund logo was.. Id like to have the top of the lund Straight also....

Detail lmao DETAILS!!!!!

You'll love the hydroturf and boy does the boat look sharp with the new paint inside and out.

My preference is to skip the Lund decal and just go with the SuperShady 18V

Crappy sun for photos... the side bunk is straight on the trailer but crooked against the boat.. thats buggin me
Something to figgure out cooked stuff drives me a lil nuts. will be movin the spare back to behind the winch stand as there is room for sure. The boat not touching the front roller i was told is OK since its on the bunks and next roller back. Want to crawl under and take a look before the motor gets put back on.

Tick tock tick tock..... ready to get back to work on it myself

Thats sure a good lookn rig now! A long time comming, but something to be proud of! Enjoy your new(to you) rig, you've earned it! May it be the downfall of many a fish& fowl.
Dennis

Thanks Dennis

Started to take apart and sand some of the bolt on's and came up with a BUGBOMB can way to get
a finish similar so they at least blend with the boat.

The rear light holder was CHROME. The bilge thru hull was white and the Minnkota plate for the
motor was a black. I got them all sanded scuffed cleaned and sprayed let them sit for sveral days
and they will at least not look like a wart on the boat lol.

Glad I enjoy this stuff.

Dave, I have been looking for a surface covering for the front and rear bow of my aluminum boat. How does the hydroturf hold up? Also how does it attach to the aluminum. Any advise would be great! By the way, the boat looks amazing!

CJ

They glue it on to the deck, they have been using it for a long time and had great luck
with it in the boats that they build at Phowler here in Clinton. It cost me about $450
for all the turf installed in the rig. As far as how it will hold up for me TBA..... lol

SHES HOME!

Hydroturf is great stuff. They use it on personal watercraft. It doesn't absorb water, keeps the deck warm, dry and non-slip. You can buy it in sheets with glue already or use one of the 3M adhesives. Its an easy self-install job.

I have it on my aluminum boat deck and also on the deck of my Bankes. It holds up well to all of the stresses of hunting. I haven't had any problems with it sticking to aluminum but some problems keeping it stuck to the texture fiberglass deck in the Bankes.

Left bunk adjusted, spare tire moved back
new trans straps put on. Just droped her
off at The marina to get the Motor put
back on after its tune up.

Dave,

Congrats on job well done. That boat will serve you well for a long time. Waiting to see the water shots.

Take care,

Ed L.

Thanks Ed, I missed her maiden testing friday. The marina has the motor back on all gone thru
tuned up and river tested her. It ran great motor is as smooth as it gets for a big twin engine
and the boat handled well got out of the hole and on plane quickly.

I still have work to do before I take it on the water. This weekend I got the onboard
charger mounted in a bracket we made for it under the front deck, the battery box
installed rivnuts instead of pop rivits to allow removal. Trolling motor mounted and
I also pulled wire from back to front. I only needed wire for bowlight up there
but pulled a 4 wire trailer wire instead cause ya never know. Got the seats poped
in and cover put on sunday just intime for the big storm to roll in with 60mph winds
to test the cover.... It passed

Few pics from the weekend.

Motor on.. The thing only weighs 200# but it just looks larger.

Used some fuel line around the cut out for the new
beefy battery cables to run thru.

The trollin motor fit perfectly in the mount so it can
be removed after trips.

The mount we made for the onboard charger. It has
been mounted on wood on the bracket as not to
cause any problems when charging up.

Rivnut. I had saved a bunch of these that were discontinued long ago from work. Glad I did. The battery box and lid were rivited in by the makers and these will allow me to be able to get at the charger if needed.

Exciting photo....

New cover.. Fits not like a glove but hard to find a good
cover for old V-bow boats over 16'. Cant afford a custom
cover for it right now so this will do fine. And it survived
the storm.

Most important to me... Gordy seems to like it.

Crappy pic, Blackberry in the dark with flash lol... but oh my way bette than old Blue.

Very similar, they call it granite coat.

Got her home here are some pics out in the daylight.

All covered up now just to start on all the small stuff and the wiring up of the basics for now. Want to try and ge her out on the water maybe next weekend.

Afterwork last night got a few more lil things gone.

Moved the winch stand forward 3" and got the trans
right on the end of the bunks.

I installed the new saftey cables got rid of the chains
and put the thru hull connector in and sealed it. It was
white i did my best with the bug bomb and must say a
good match. I used the krylon Fusion Camo paint for
plastics. Once it cures 7 days its TUFF!

I think ill mask it off and run a small bead of caulk on the
inside of the splash well just to make sure all is good
for years. There was still sealant in there when i
sanded it down but cant hurt. I lined the insides of the
rain tubes with paint and fixed the outsides with 2 part
epoxy putty before it was painted.

Dave,
great pictures of the project. Are you going to hunt out of this boat with a blind or will it be transport to spots to hunt out of smaller stuff?

You guys are very lucky to have outboards that have never seen salt water. They go forever in the fresh. Cant say that for out salt baked conditions.

Bob

hello bob and thanks, I am going to make a very simple blind that is just short sides on it only. nuttin
fancy for diver ducks that is for sure. No more permanate blinds on the river where I hunt that
kinda sucks but times change....
